Topic: Looking At The Masks We Wear
For the last 15 months we physically wore a mask to protect ourselves from the ravages and power of COVID. We were forced to social distance and for many, were physically, emotionally, and spiritually stuck indoors. Now, many are vaccinated and have or are venturing outdoors and beginning to enjoy life again.
During the course of any given day, we can use a variety of different masks as a social disguise to help us through a variety of situations. It’s part of human nature. How many of us live life behind a mask – a mask of self-assuredness, confidence, perfection, authority, masks that hide true feelings or intentions, masks that keep the world at a distance, masks that allow us to slip in and out of being authentic – to ourselves and others.
Please come prepared to examine the ‘masks’ we may still be wearing, or that we have removed and others that may not serve us and we are willing to remove
Discussion Questions Include:
1) What are you focusing on and being intentional about in what matters to/in your life? If you aren’t focusing on what matters to you, is there something that is blocking you? If yes, what?
2) Is your mask keeping you hostage and preventing you from being your authentic self in who you really are? If yes, please describe what that looks like.
3) What is your ultimate truth to which you surrender?
If you are looking for a safe space to be loved and challenged, you are in the right place.
An invitation to share sacred space with an ethnically diverse gathering of people committed to working collaboratively, building relationships and communities that will inspire action to eradicate the racist social norms in this country.
NOTE: I can’t afford to be shy about this – If you are white, like me, please join this conversation because the truth is, without white voices and our commitment to action, change won’t come about.
Come ready to share lived experiences, so we may continue to grow together in our understanding of who we are and strengthen our commitment to equality.
Come ready to be uncomfortable and vulnerable.
Come ready to be heard, valued, and responded to with love.
Come ready to be inspired to consider what challenges you in creating action that moves us all forward…
and then step by step, take action.
We are all needed to create the world we want to live in.
