Asian x Black Solidarity Circle
September 17, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

“As Bruce Lee famously said, “Under duress, we do not rise to our expectations, but fall to our level of training.” Hundreds of years of living in a context designed by pillagers of the land and captors of people–without sufficient intervention–naturally establishes the curriculum of the training to which we fall.
Without practices of self-witness that exist in dynamic balance with the will to liberate the collective, the level of suffering we may bear in exchange is perhaps not known even to ourselves.” -Rev. angel Kyodo williams, Radical Dharma
This is an ongoing, affirming, healing, transformative, and co-building space specifically for Asian folx and Black folx to collectively heal from racial harms (both past and present), see and celebrate each other’s identities more fully, and build a collective effort towards justice, joy, liberation, and love.
Please RSVP above. You’ll receive a ticket via email with the link needed to access this gathering.
Looking forward to it. I would love to see more diversity on both sides. It would be interesting to see things through the lenses of asians my age (50s). Just a thought
Thank you Darryl! I definitely agree. We’re continuing outreach to get as many perspectives in the room as possible–it’s an important part of having these conversations. If you do know any other Asian or Black folx you’d like to invite, please feel free! Looking forward to seeing you there.
