For this meeting, we will be further exploring last month’s topic regarding experiences of physical violence as white men.

However, this month we will be adjusting the focus slightly, but significantly, to examine our experiences performing violence, in its many forms, as white men.

More specifically, how do we perform violence in our relationships (personal, professional, private, public)? On ourself? Where did we learn these behaviors? What does it feel like in your body when you perform, or have performed violence?

Notably, many of us may have touched upon, or even well-delved into these questions last month, but we encourage you to do so this session with redoubled focus, and the benefit of a base prime. As such a critical component of holding white supremacy and cisheteropatriarchy in place, violence seems like a topic that deserves a couple visits at bare minimum.

In addition, it has thankfully been brought to light that several participants in last month’s meeting felt that the standard format of our gatherings did not provide adequate accommodation for the intensity of the subject matter. With this consideration in mind, this month’s meeting will also include an invitation to remain in conversation following the conclusion of the main portion of the evening, in order to further support one another in collectively processing some of the experience that may come up as we venture further into a deeply charged and painful topic.
