Love with Courage: How Do We Express Love?
August 4, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

Is there a risk to expressing love?
What is the risk?
Are we willing to take the risk?
I’ve been observing myself – sometimes I walk into a space where I know everyone and yet there are only a few that I will actually say, I love you and I trust the love is being received. I will greet others with a smile and easy conversation, yet, I withhold a simple phrase, I love you. Do these people know that I love them? How have I expressed love to them?
I know and understand, not everyone is comfortable saying, I love you, for many reasons…
So the questions:
How do you/we express love?
When living in Jordan I quickly learned that they have a common greeting: as-salaam-alaikum, peace be upon you and the response: wa-alaikum-salaam, peace be also with you. Wherever and whenever you are interacting with another this is said – going into someone’s home, walking into a shop, at a social event, at a place of worship, etc.
It was wonderful – it slowed me down as I walked into each new space – intentionally thinking about peace.
Bonus Question: If you could create a cultural shift, bringing love into each space, by greeting each other with a common greeting at the entry point of wherever we were, what would you say?
Love with courage,
Rachelle
