Solidarity Circle: Building Coalitions Across Asian & Black Communities
June 2, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm CDT

Payment: This gathering is pay-what-you-feel, empowering you to pay what you feel this experience is worth to you and within your means to support.
Thank you to all those who showed up and held care for our communities during our last Asian-Black conversation on 4.29, the anniversary of the LA riots. We also appreciate those who gave feedback on our survey, which helps us determine how to best support and build with this group. (If you haven’t shared your feedback, we invite your thoughts.)
We have a vision to create spaces around a number of opportunities for working together towards collective justice, but with the recent tragic murders of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor–and now George Floyd–we feel space to be together and uplift their names is the immediate need.
We’ve been reminded in the past few weeks that the trauma, the need for healing, and the work seem to be endless. We feel overwhelmed and outraged by the injustice around us. We feel incapable of standing by, but also paralyzed by the reality that so many lives–especially Black lives–continue to be held in blatant disregard.
Uncertain exactly how to proceed, we wanted to hold space to process together. We won’t have slides or a presentation, just a space for each other. We’re open to whatever we need, welcoming each person wherever they are in their process.
Please RSVP above. You’ll receive a ticket with the Zoom link needed to access this gathering via email.
No prior knowledge or practice is required to attend, though this gathering is intended for members of the Asian-American and/or Black communities.
