The Gathering for Change Agents with Quanita Roberson & Tenneson Woolf
September 1, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm CDT
Tickets are not available as this gathering has passed.
At the heart of change agency is the ability to meet ourselves and other people where we are with compassion, so that we may move through resistance to co-create a world that works for all. Since we often can’t see why or how we are stuck, let alone have the energy and tools to move through it alone, we need each other.
The coming together of differences can bring up a lot of joy and grief. How do you navigate these spaces? How do you look deeper to receive the gifts these emotions offer you—in service to whole-hearted self-expression and open-hearted connection with yourself and others? Grief doesn’t require suffering—grief is just sad. Suffering comes from the resistance to grief.
Grief doesn’t have to be reserved just for big life events, such as the loss of a loved one. Grief happens anytime you lose something important to you, even a hopeful vision of the future. Who among us hasn’t lost something in the past 18 months of the pandemic? However, you might not have language or permission to express the sadness and fear attached to this loss, which can lead to it becoming bottled up or expressed in unhealthy ways that can make our differences and sense of separation feel irreconcilable.
Exploring grief with each other means making space for it to move fully through our beings. This healing can open up intimate space for us to bring more joy into our own lives and hold space for others to heal and grow, which in turn deepens our relationships as we weave our paths together. In this way grief can be a conduit for us to see how much we really have in common, making our differences feel less divisive.
On next Wednesday’s call, we’ll explore some really insightful and pivotal questions such as:
- What does grief mean to you?
- What is contributing to your feelings of grief in these times?
- Do you feel open to expressing your grief? If not, what holds you back?
- What are practical methods to become more aware of grief and process it?
- What is the relationship between grief and community?
- Why should change agents be focused on grief in our work to build a more just and equitable world?
- What is the relationship between individual grief and cultural/systemic grief?
We’ll be joined by guest facilitators, Quanita Roberson and Tenneson Woolf:
Quanita Roberson is a facilitator dedicated to addressing embedded trauma. She is a spiritual teacher, speaker, author, life coach, and a storyteller. Quanita’s work over the past 20 years has been focused in the areas of healing, initiation, grief, leadership, diversity, and inclusion. She has a background in Organizational Management and Development with a concentration in Integral Theory which has supported her in looking at the world in a more holistic way.
Tenneson Woolf is a facilitator, workshop leader, teacher, blogger, and coach committed to improving the quality of collaboration and imagination needed in groups, teams, and organizations — to help us be in times such as these with consciousness, kindness, and learning. His work over 20+ years has been to design and lead meetings in participative formats. From strategic visioning with boards to large conference design to communities just learning to listen again to one another. Lately Tenneson has been working with faith communities, educators, and foundation leaders.
