The Playful Space Between: Doodle Contemplations
June 1, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm CDT

This month’s Gathering for Change Agents via The True Purpose® Institute explores the topic of “The Playful Space Between: Doodle Contemplations”!
How does play show up in the space between?
How can play help us find and stay in the space between?
We’ve nearly halfway through our year exploring the theme of “Dancing in the Space Between: Creating Resilience and Possibility in the Now”. Now we turn our attention to dancing and playing in the form of creative expression and flow.
Contemplation is the space between meditation and action, and yet contemplative spaces are often not given enough space or time. We tend to rush from insight to action. What would be possible if we spent more time in the space between?
Visual imagery, like poetry, can create a lot of space in that there can be different interpretations, perspectives, meanings, etc. on different days or in different times. It is not literal or tethered to physical form or constraints. Anything is possible and there is a lot of space to keep playing with it!
In this highly interactive gathering, Karen Light will guide us to bring out our inner artist in the form of doodling. Even your inner critic will have a ball as we let our hearts guide our hands. We’ll have generous time to doodle and then interpret each other’s doodles to form a co-creative container together.
Karen has a personal mission of awakening creative power.
As the Founder and an Illustrator at Studio Light Illustration, Karen partners with artists and authors to nurture humanity through the magic of story-creating and story-telling. She believes that stories connect us as humans, forge understanding, evoke empathy, and challenge us to think of ways to create a world in which all living creatures can thrive.
As a Creative Coach, Karen has a passion for helping struggling artists who want to make a soulful living. She is on a mission to erase the phrase “starving artist” from our lexicon and envisions a world where artists are seen and compensated as invaluable resources in the work to create a more sustainable, equitable, and joyful world.
Outside of her client work, Karen is slowly redefining herself as an artist! So far, her new work has been a mixed media exploration of messages shared by creatures that cross her path, in both the waking and sleeping worlds. She has also written and illustrated a children’s book of her own, Once Upon a Doodle, with others in the works.
Karen‘s toolbox has been honed from being a working artist, over two decades of teaching, mentoring, and coaching, studying community arts, her work in social justice, and her ever-evolving spiritual practices. And don’t forget doodling. Lots and lots of doodling!
We welcome you to connect with Gathering members on our Facebook group. Every Monday is an opportunity to share your purposeful offerings or special events.
